I've talked extensively about my recent ACORN amendment to the Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act – an amendment that would keep tax dollars from flowing to organizations that have been indicted, or employ individuals who have been indicted, for voter fraud or related crimes. As you may remember, Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank worked to gut my amendment, lowering the bar so that an organization would have to be convicted of voter fraud – not just indicted – before we turn off the flow of tax dollars.

Chairman Frank was undeterred by the fact that the language of my amendment was identical to language passed by Congress in 2008 as part of another housing bill.  He essentially pleaded that he’d been forced to accept that language in a compromise with the Senate.

Well, lo and behold:  Just yesterday, the House passed – with Chairman Frank’s vote -- the Helping Families Save Their Homes Act with a provision that sets new eligibility requirements for lenders to be approved Federal Housing Administration (FHA) lenders.  One of the standards is that the lenders may not employ individuals that are “under indictment for, or have been convicted of, an offense that reflects adversely upon the applicant’s integrity, competence or fitness to meet the responsibilities of an approved mortgagee.”  This was in both the original House-passed bill and yesterday’s Senate version.  There’s no blaming this on a compromise with the Senate.

So, it appears that Democrats think it is O.K. to set the bar high when deciding who can make FHA loans but the same standard shouldn’t apply to groups directly receiving taxpayer dollars?

Just another example of the Democrats' inconsistency when it comes to distributing your tax dollars, particularly when ACORN is the recipient.

Ms. Bachmann
Now you know why you should actually prepare before you go on TV. You got owned by Barney Frank on Lou Dobbs program. You basically had home field advantage and choked like the Celtics in Game 7, congrats.

Debate on Lou Dobbs program
I watched that debate and completely disagree with your opinion.

Barney Frank doesn't have the presence to "own" anyone. He just blabbers on like an idiot, blaming Bush and the republicans (as usual) rather than admitting that Acorn has a corruptive record and should be further investigated before we keep handing them billions of American taxpayer dollars. All he does is defend them. A typical liberal, his only solution is to set up another inefficient government agency that would replace Acorn, once again providing us with a bigger, more bloated government that only over-regulates the taxpayer.

Overall, all Barney Frank proved in this debate is how clueless he is. But remember, he's one of the people that put us in the economic situation we are in. So why do we even ask his opinion on anything? His judgement and problem solving skills have proven to be poor at best.

Michele on the other hand is obviously interested in watching our money, and working to expose and/or end corrupt agencies.

I don't even live in Minnesota, but I'm proud as hell that we have a Congresswoman that is fighting so diligently for the taxpayers of this once great country. So thank you Michele! Keep up the fight. You have a lot support you might not even be aware of. But we're there, and in growing in numbers...thanks to people like Barney Frank.

Conservatism in America is on the move.

A Banner Idea
we should keep tax dollars from flowing to organizations that have been indicted, or employ individuals who have been indicted, for voter fraud or related crimes.
I move that we stop the flow of tax dollars to the republican party for their decades old campaign of vote manipulation and voter caging, illegal voter disenfranchisement and other numerous robocalling and illegal telephone jamming of opponents.
If conservatism is on the move, I'll be pleased to be the gentleman holding the door for them.

Ms Bachmann
I sincerely wish you would cease the misrepresentation and fearmongering concerning Acorn. Your statements are skewed truth or patently false. Your lies are not in keeping with your oath of office.

Bachmann Will Be Booted
Because she is clearly unbalanced. ACORN? Seriously?

The GOP is much better at voter fraud. See Bush, Supreme Court, 2000. Rove could teach ACORN a few things...
