of course the VAT tax is in play. These guys will think that the American people will never notice that. It is only what comes out of their paycheck. The VAT tax will also give them the ability to raise taxes easily in the future. Obama will spout that you are not seeing one penny more out of your paycheck and the drooling drones will continue to think they got a tax cut.
|
|
|
Before we add more taxes to pay for care, how about a couple of free-market solutions. Stop requiring that doctors and hospitals provide emergency care regardless of a person's ability to pay. So a few people will die, but their survivors will get the message that they need to buy insurance. In the meantime, our premiums will go down because there will no longer be cost shifting. And take away the tax exempt status of not-for profit hospitals. That will help re-fill government coffers. Finally, don't force health insurance companies to accept all applicants. Their responsibility is to make a profit for their shareholders, not to provide health care for their customers. So perhaps a few thousand more Americans will die annually but at least we'll have free markets, low insurance premiums and lower taxes. |
|
|
Are they really that stupid in Europe? Add a tax at every level of production and service and the cost will rise. Do our congress critters really think we won't notice the difference? I certainly will and that will only make me tighten down on discretionary spending. That surely won't help the economy at all. |
|
good point to a VAT is that EVERYONE pays including the drooling drones!
CoachA, yes they really are that stupid in Europe! they have FREE, FREE, FREE health care too!
What an absolute triumph Obumbles is! |

Another wish he did it...sci-fi spinner....Gibbs came out and corrected this talking point...Move on nothing to see here either. |

Even if we all consume at the normal rate after a VAT, I wonder if we could generate enough income to pay for all the socialist goodies Obama and the Dems are piling up. It's going to be fun watching all the 'non rich' and/or 'elitist lib' boobs who voted for Barry start a revolution. (Love those angry townhall folks) Let them eat VATs or let them eat cash for clunkers etc.
To Klaus: Exellent suggestions. Is that you VP Cheney? LOL |
|
of neoconservative talk radio, "center-rightist" extraordinaire, whose name graces the top of Townhall's web-page, has just instructed his listeners who attend townhall meetings to be perfect gentlemen and ladies, and not raise their voices like the patriots we observed in a couple of YouTube videos posted here. You can hear him in his podcast when he posts it, if he posts it.
When it comes right down to it, Hewitt is no conservative. And certainly no patriot. If all the pamphleteers and preachers prinitng and preacing during the days leading up to the Revolution had been like Hewitt, we'd likely still be part of the British Empire.
My fellow middle-class Americans, don't listen to the likes of Hewitt, who are nothing more than the pseudoconservative version of the American "elite" we all detest so much. Stay true to your gnarly, revolutionary, Middle American roots. Pick up torches, pick up pitchforks, and give them hell at the townhall meetings. The cretins in Congress don't respect civility; they respect the passion of revolutionary resolve. They're intimidated only by your vocal anger, not your quiet reason. They respond only to force, not flaccid attempts to get them to listen to reason.
Send Congress your *angry message*, friends. And send Hewitt back to his neocon constitutional law class.

Campaigns almost always “absolutely rule things out no matter what.”
The retarded American voters continually feast on this tripe.
Remember George H.W. Bush’s “read my lips” pledge?
Burt Prelutsky is correct. Stupid American voters are here to stay. |

As a smoker (a low income one at that) I've encountered Obama's new taxes quite a lot since April 1. A pouch of rolling tobacco used to cost about #6.50. That was before Obama's increase in the excise tax. Now the cheapest place in town I can find is around $12.
Just want to remind everyone that Obama broke his "read my lips" tax pledge almost the moment he came into office. |
|
now you go after Hewitt. You went after McCain, Romney. You won't be happy until you lose 45 of 50 states, and get less than 100 electoral votes. Then, the GOP can rise from the ashes caused by intolerant children who shouldn't even be allowed to vote (and would not have been allowed to vote under the original constitution). Losers who blame immigrants for their lack of success in their lives. Losers who cannot use the names people post with, having to make jokes about names. Calling people gay as though it is an insult. Sad really, but by the time the GOP crashes down in 2010, when Hewitt and others have to explain what happened, it will be too late to reconstruct the party. So, those who are smart, thinking conservatives, who know that there is give and take in politics, will wait, bide their time, try to field a decent candidate in 2016, but realize that 2020 is more likely when the GOP might begin to rise again.
I'm so sad I'm laughing. |

Here's the scoop:
I called my Democrat congressman's office today and grilled one of his aid's for 55-minutes.
...And I recorded the whole thing and posted it on YouTube.
http://clerk.house.gov/member_info/mcapdir.html
He admitted our current health care was "good" and popular for a reason.
I cover everything from Canadian and English health care disasters, to Cap and Trade to Cash for clunkers, all live on YouTube.
Here are the videos:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__V8cLkMctM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9ky27k3EW4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0gfA3Infe4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgkdFqCKNjY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zm5t4guOA4c
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fPrgAuL0KM
(Each begins with a 1 minute video clip of Obama talking about his dream of Universal Health care and ruining insurance companies.)
When I sited 72% approval ratings for our current insurance system and Obama's vows in 2007 to destroy the insurance system, and Nancy Pelosi's attacks on our insurers, the aid called our health care system "good".
Here's the John Stossel video that I mention on the failure of universal health care in England and Canada:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdx_2cuPgQQ
From Canadian lotteries for health care to do-it-yourself dentistry in England this video is an eye opener.
People die from cancer 18% more often in Canada.
He also evaded questions several times on Perriello's false claim that his opponent supported a massive tax increase and threatened to hang up every time I brought it up, and then did hand up when I refused to drop the subject.
Talk Soon,
Mike Long
P.S. Here's a link to the Washington phone numbers of every single congressman:

The Communists currently running our country have finally “come clean”! Their aim all along was a Communist style “takeover” of the nation’s healthcare system. This would force all Americans under one “government controlled” healthcare program. The Democrats (Communists) have a “one party system” and the next step to “total control” is complete control over healthcare. That’s the way it has always been in Communist controlled countries. If you’re not alarmed by this “newest” revelation, then you deserve what they give you! However, if your like me and insist on the freedoms our Constitution guaranteed us, don’t yield to the Communists who now control our country! Call or write your elected representatives and voice your displeasure with their lies and deception! If you're not angered with this "colossal deception and fraud of the nation's taxpayers", you should be! Read on!
PS: This “latest” deception is yet another “prime example” of the insidious nature of Democrats! Steal, lie and cheat from honest citizens, that’s what they do!

Yet another liberal lawmaker on Capitol Hill has acknowledged that the public option healthcare proposal being promoted by President Obama and Democrats on Capitol Hill is a "Trojan horse" for a single-payer socialized healthcare system. Earlier this summer, House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Massachusetts) told CNSNews.com that he agrees with President Obama that a single-payer healthcare system has worked well in some countries. Congressman Frank reportedly cited Scandinavia as an example. Frank was confronted at the National Press Club last week by the group Single Payer Action, which asked him why a single-payer system was off the table. "Apparently because we don't have the votes. I wish it weren't. I'm all for it. I'm a big sponsor," he admitted. Frank is referring to his support for H.R. 676, The United States National Health Care Act, which has 85 congressional co-sponsors. He says trying to push a single-payer bill through Congress before getting a public option approved would be "suicidal."
"The best way we're going to get single-payer, the only way, is to have a public option and demonstrate its strength and its power," he adds. Earlier this year at a healthcare forum, liberal Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (D-Illinois admitted that her push for a public option is "not a principled fight" because her real goal is eliminating the private healthcare sector.

The Dr Phil Show! We're beginning a new season of television shows here at Dr. Phil and would like to talk to moms who believe a mother should not work while her children are still young. Do you think that a mother belongs at home with the kids? Do you think it's irresponsible for mothers to leave the raising of their children to a nanny or daycare provider? If this sounds like your opinion and you have a question for Dr. Phil - please email you're questions to at Bryan.valderrama@cbsparamount.com along with recent photos of yourself & your family . Thanks for writing Dr. Phil and thank you in advance for your response, we look forward to hearing from you!

Correction: You're so *stupid* you're laughing. And one of the measures of your stupidity is that you just *dully keep on posting*, every day, ad nauseam, under this name and that one, giving all us multiple opportunities to show you just what a $hit-for-brains you are.
But the icing on the cake is when the liberal "braintrust" on this board, Vladimir Estrogen and Bunck, chime in to nod their vacant heads in agreement with you. That always makes my day.
It's the reason I am addicted to this board. You guys are more addictive than heroin, but a lot less destructive. Best of all worlds. |

check out your colleague's contributions to the Daniel W. Platt, MD blog.
You have claimed Kaboom as your own; now own her in earnest.
Watch this folks: silence will ensue.
Actually not. Since I've written here, "Watch this folks: silence will ensue", they'll speak up.
But actually they won't since I posted the paragraph above.
Point is, their mettle will be known when they either embrace or disavow Kaboom. I suspect they'll do neither.
Except now that I've written the paragraph above. . .
Decisions, decisions.

Is middle class simply an amount of yearly salary no matter what region you live in?Is it a state of mind or material ownership? Does it even matter because whatever category you are in you will be taxed. Most local and state govts are experiencing tax receivable short falls that will be doubled next year. The Bush tax cuts will expire in 2010.Cap and trade, national health, etc.and finally the coup de grace ,INFLATION. |

A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship. As the baby boomers begin to retire, Washington loses their income tax. They are using the VAT to make up for lost revenue. Seniors who are now on a fixed incomes are going to pay more for daily living expenses because of this VAT. Taxes, taxes and more taxes. BUT!!! The VAT depends upon spending and consumers are NOT spending. According to Bloomberg economist,Edmond Phelps, they wont be spending any time soon "Even if that rebuilding goes on at a pretty good clip, it will take 12 or 15 years for households to get to the wealth level that they had several years ago. Consumer demand is going to take a long time to rebuild to normal levels.” The democrats are on course to destroy and already weakened economy by excessive spending and taxation. Stop them. Vote them out now. |
|
Well, we have tarp and stimulus and a big hole that is the budget, we have GM, trash car cash - have I missed anything?
now they plan on cap and trade. VAT cigarette taxes alcohol Fat and sugar taxes.
How about a potato tax? a good steak tax - not the cheap ones - they haven't the good fat - Would a tax on a chocolate cake be higher than on an angel food? Who is going to figure that one out?
Well, unfortunately, they still have a card up their sleeve - by Labor Day they want all the illegals to be citizens. Talk about costs!
Notice though they haven't said a word about illegals recently - they probaly plan to slip it through the same day the health plan gets voted on. |
|
|
If this VAT tax is voted in we are in real trouble. The spending will never end. Every time these clowns have a new wish list it will be easy for them to vote in a 1% raise in the VAT tax without much notice from the public. The government will abuse this to no end. We have already seen that our politicians have no desire to tighten their belts and live within a budget. VAT tax will feed their verocious appetite for frivolous spending. |

New York Times article entitled "Full Hospitals Make Canadians Wait and Look South," by James Brooke, provided some good examples of how Canadian price controls have created serious shortage problems.
A 58-year-old grandmother awaited open-heart surgery in a Montreal hospital hallway with 66 other patients as electric doors opened and closed all night long, bringing in drafts from sub-zero weather. She was on a five-year waiting list for her heart surgery.
In Toronto, 23 of the city's 25 hospitals turned away ambulances in a single day because of a shortage of doctors.
In Vancouver, ambulances have been "stacked up" for hours while heart attack victims wait in them before being properly taken care of.
At least 1,000 Canadian doctors and many thousands of Canadian nurses have migrated to the United States to avoid price controls on their salaries.
Wrote Mr. Brooke, "Few Canadians would recommend their system as a model for export."
You can't imagine how expensive healthcare becomes ,when it's "free". |
|
|
Spot on ,Be loud they will not listen otherwise . |
|
This is a Health Care "solution" for people who are not sick. It is: not for victims of Abotion, not for old people that may need an MRI or CAT scan, not for anyone over 50 that will need an orgam transplant, not for anyone that will need an expensive drug to stay alive.

That reasonable measured tones approach of the mealy-mouthed jello-spined Redumblicans got us Obama. Gloves, off. Giant, woken. Hugh, pound sand. Tonight I'm going to an organizational meeting for a just-forming local tea party. I don't ever do stuff like this, but Obama and you Marxists have forced my hand. Be afraid, be very afraid. |

Let's all hold hands and repeat together: Nobody is proposing Canadian-style health care for the U.S. Nobody is proposing Canadian-style health care for the U.S. Nobody is proposing Canadian-style health care for the U.S.
Is it starting to sink in? Keep trying! |

"You have claimed Kaboom as your own; now own her in earnest."
I've never claimed Kaboom. Why would you make up something like that?

Are you saying that we can force people to "own" statements made by others at Town Hall? Are you ready to start playing? |

to make their own medical care decisions.
Is obama's true intent to use the health care system to enslave all Americans but his elite sycophants?
Is that the Congress' intention?
Is that why Congress is building in exceptions to who must participate in the obamacare plans? |
|
Congressional representatives have not read the proposed health care bills (there are three), how can they make statements like, "Let's all hold hands and repeat together: Nobody is proposing Canadian-style health care for the U.S. Nobody is proposing Canadian-style health care for the U.S. Nobody is proposing Canadian-style health care for the U.S."
These bloviators have little to no idea what is being proposed if they have not read the proposed plans.
Reassurances from people who have no idea what the three or four thousand pages of health plans contain are meaningless and more than a tad disingenuous.
|

minions have been very clear that whatever the kenyan signs will only be a transitional phase to a single payor system. |

I've read them.

People listen ask your employer how much your health plan is costing him. For every hour I work they are paying $6.04 an hour. The Insurance companies have been getting our pay raises
|

"The Insurance companies have been getting our pay raises"
The CEO of United Healthcare was paid $125 million in a single year.
That's a $1/hour raise for 66,000 people. |

Canadian style is exactly where there plan takes us ,It's the first step. |

"Canadian style is exactly where there plan takes us"
Clay, you've shown over and over that you know absolutely nothing about this subject. I sincerely doubt that if asked, you could describe the Canadian system, our current system, or the proposed system. |

Being a general contractor from Michigan I have had enough extra time the last 2 years to teach myself computer programming. I have been trying to create a site that contractors can sell materials left over from jobs. I hope it eventually works. However, as part of my "civic duty", I did come up with a tax calculator that looks at hidden taxes like cigarette, fuel, alcohol and utility tax, etc, compares them by state, and then calculates "real tax" with the above numbers added to the perennial state and federal "compulsory" burdens. I then take the result and adjust with the cap and trade, health and the 2011 increase added in. If you're interested, pay particular attention to which group eventually gets tapped the hardest, contrary to what our ah, er "representatives" are telling us. 2 versions...short and long short is here: http://www.mycbay.com (right upper sidebar) |

Those actors make too much money. They should pay us to see their movies. The government should do something about that. |

Yada YaDA YADA I'm not proposing to dismantle our system and radically change how we access healthcare.Youand your comrades are the ones that should be explainig instead of trying to ram a bill down our throats with little or no debate. We have gone this long we can go lot longer if need be to hash this out. |

for his healthcare plan without a tax hike...he can't! In addition, this plan will not cover everyone and will cost us more money..not save any money. |

professional athletes and team owners--exorbitant salaries and profits! The government should cap them, right Bob Munck and Butch? |
|
As the guarantors of justice and promoters of the general welfare, governments have the unique role of ensuring equitable access to health care for all. This role does not necessarily entail a specific governmental program or one approach to health care coverage. It does mean, however, that governments have the obligation to provide leadership and coordination in balancing competing private and social interests in moving toward the goal of equitable access to health care. In ways that are fair in both process and outcome, Citizen representatives in government must take on the challenging task of defining the level of health care services to which all persons should have access. Achieving these obligations of love and justice requires sacrifice, goodwill, fairness, and an abiding commitment to place personal and social responsibilities of love and justice above narrower individual, institutional, and political self-interests. For some people, this may mean paying more in taxes or in direct payments to assure that everyone has care. As difficult as this may be, citizens should not shrink from these moral challenges. I urge all people to advocate for access to basic health care for all and to participate vigorously and responsibly in the public discussion on how best to fulfill this obligation. The chronic failure of our society to provide its members access to basic health care services is a moral tragedy that should not be tolerated.
