On Monday of this week, charges were brought in Nevada against ACORN and two of its former employees for voter registration violations, and  today, the Allegheny County District Attorney in Pennsylvania charged seven employees of ACORN with forgery and election law violations, saying they filed hundreds of fraudulent voter registrations during last year's general election.

It really could not be more timely as Chairman Barney Frank was just on the House floor trying to justify his amendment to the Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act that will allow groups such as ACORN that have been indicted, or have employees who have been indicted, of voter fraud to receive millions in taxpayer funding.

Last week, the House Financial Services Committee unanimously passed my amendment to prohibit the flow of your money to such groups, but Chairman Frank feels it necessary to take back his support for that commonsense language and raise the bar so that organizations would have to be convicted before their access to tax dollars would be cut off.

While I realize that we are all innocent until proven guilty, ACORN has established a pattern of voter registration violations that seems to pop up election after election and in state after state.  The courts are the appropriate place to try guilt and innocence.  Congress has a fiduciary obligation to spend tax dollars wisely.

Your taxpayer money must be held to the highest standard, and not used to engage in a proven pattern of voter registration violations.

Obsessed
Your obsession with ACORN/Barney Frank is odd to say the least - stalking to say the most. Move on and do something productive for Minnesota - other than making statements that make you look idiotic and the rest of the state look straight out of the stone ages. Your words do little more than promote a premise that is factually wrong and twist it into something that is so distorted that it can at that point only exist to divide people, exploit fears and mistrust and just over all make yourself look stupid. Give it up Michelle - move on!

Major Issue?
In Rep. Bachmann’s world this is a major issue.

A minute amount of voter registration fraud out of millions and millions of voters and the reality is that ACORN is the ones that got ripped off.

Did any of these people actually vote? (I heard they didn't) If not, the checks and balances in place must of worked.

Rep. Bachmann has not held a single public meeting in the Sixth District that was advertised in advance and where she will take questions from her constituents, since she was elected in 2006.

Maybe if she did she would, she find most people are concerned about much more important issues than ACORN getting ripped off by its employees

more lunitic responses
How do you convince yourself that just because they have thousands and thousands of fraudulent registrations , they didnt have and fraudukent votes, come one.And why do we the taxpayers have to fund what is clearly a left wing organization against our will. They only support and registar for one party, and they do it fraudulently as well, so why would the average taxpayer agree with millions and millions of our hard earned money to go to them. Frank is on the take and we need someone to be honorable and out the jerk, and we can put him in jail, where he will find true happiness, being gay and all.

ACORN is an issue
The antics of ACORN should be reported on and followed closely. If groups like this are not held to task our entire system will be compromised. Our right to have a fair election is important regardless of what the outcome. It is evident that ACORN was working not as an independent group but to push their democratic agenda. It is important that government money be withheld from them. If they are unable to control their actions or their employees they are not to be trusted with our tax dollars. I for one want them prosecuted and held accountable. I am glad that Michele is keeping this up front.

Little question
"raise the bar so that organizations would have to be convicted."

How many other organizations have been convicted of voter registration fraud?

(True Fact: ACORN has never received a dime of public money to register voters.)

Just the facts
john: A.C.O.R.N. which is described by the Liberal Media which is most of the 'media': "... non partisan left leaning community organizer..."
michael: did you hear what you wanted to hear?
douglas: right on...
And Barney the Frank and others of his ilk are trying to funnel Billions of taxpayer $$ to A.C.O.R.N. to do what? Pay them off of course.
This fraudulent group of so called activists have had problems again and again over the years. Well documented. Just take their tax-exempt status away and don't fund them at all.
The system is broken: my former brother in law has residence in Florida and Maryland. I will not tell you what he did but he had and still has the chance to cast votes in both states legally!
Why register tens of thousands of fraudulent voters for nothing? I would not be surprised that they did vote fraudulently. Look at Minnesota; the Dems: count only those votes in heavily Democratic counties (sound familiar? maybe in Florida)and discard all of the votes from the military (just like in NY)AND when the votes are counted... in a community of 10000 registered voters you come up with 20000 votes.
Gee, to me this looks like fraud on a large scale! Oh, I'm sorry this all about putting a Democrat in office so anything is legal isn't it?

Ruthless O taught Acorn the Chicago way
If you think Acorn only covered a small number of fraudulent votes, let me sell you the Brooklyn bridge! They not only cheated on a large scale for along time, they solicited undeciders to vote for their teacher Obama. So far we only have the tip of the Acorn iceberg to access! Many misdeeds are hiding beneath the surface!

vladimir estrogen ?sp?
This is what Barney (the) Frank is all about: giving this fraudulent (Democratic) organization tax-payer monies. It is looking to the USA and the rest of sane society like a pay off... is it?

It's "estragon," but don't worry, a lot of Town Hall posters think it's very clever to spell it "estrogen."

"This is what Barney (the) Frank is all about: giving this fraudulent (Democratic) organization tax-payer monies. It is looking to the USA and the rest of sane society like a pay off... is it?"

Pay off for what? ACORN has never received taxpayer money for registering voters.

Nobody answered my earlier question: how many other organizations have been convicted of voter fraud? It's a trick question: organizations can't be indicted or convicted.

So does it mean organizations that have used people who were later convicted? Well, that would include just about every organization, wouldn't it? Profit or non-profit.

OK, OK, you say, we mean people who have been convicted of voter registration fraud. Fine, but no Federal money goes to ACORN for voter registration. So it's kind of like passing a law that says no organization can provide coffee and doughnuts to soldiers if any of their members have ever at any previous time been convicted of drunk driving.

The further you go with this strange ACORN obsession, the sillier you look.

Voter Fraud
Hurray and thank you Congresswoman Michele Bachmann for being an obsessive watchdog. Draw as much attention to ACORN as you can. Plus it's cool that you continue to be bold enough to spotlight others in public office that seem intent on undermining the strength of America. Lately they help pull the spotlight on themselves thinking no matter how lame they look they'll still get elected. Do away with voter fraud and many issues will chill.

I just hope they never find out about the connection between ACORN and the Birth Certificate. Seems obvious that if you can fake a voter registration, you can fake a birth certificate, but the wingnuts are probably too stupid to figure that out.

Hey, nobody can read this but you and me, right?

Bachmann's ineffective grandstand
If we actually dig a little deeper into this story from Nevada and read this article from the Las Vegas Review Journal (not the quickie from AP): http://www.lvrj.com/news/breaking_news/44307912.html

Two quotes of interest:

"...At Monday’s announcement, state and local officials strenuously emphasized that the false voter registrations didn’t translate to people being able to vote fraudulently."

“This is a case of voter registration fraud,” said Secretary of State Ross Miller. “There is absolutely no evidence that there was any voter fraud in the last election.”

Now my analysis:

Bachmann's very silly--and off target--amendment specifies charges of "election fraud". Since "voter registration fraud" is separate and distinct from "election fraud", it seems that Bachmann's wingnuttery has been effectively cancelled by her incompetence.

The other natural consequence of her irresponsible and deceptive behavior is that she will have no more "last minute" amendments accepted by any committee chair. So, she performs an ineffective "grandstand" maneuver and simultaneously ensures that she will be even further marginalized in the House. I'm sure her constituents are duly impressed.

I also hope that you continue by supporting the
Keep Terrorist Out of America ACT.

P.S. I always get a kick out of it when you are on Hannity. My 7 month old daughter has a crush. Anytime he comes on she is mesmerized.
