Congressman John Peterson says it best, "I think they were afraid they might lose the vote."

In my last post, I said that Rep. John Peterson (R-PA) would offer his amendment to allow deepwater energy exploration at a full Appropriations Committee markup on Wednesday.  This amendment failed on a party line vote in subcommittee.

Well, instead of taking action on it and risking another vote on Peterson’s amendment, Democrats postponed considering the Interior Appropriations measure altogether. If enacted, the amendment would allow increased exploration in deep ocean energy zones far off the Pacific and Atlantic coasts and the eastern Gulf of Mexico.

Another day, another bold display of leadership from the Democrats on energy.

Here is a clip from Rep. Peterson on Fox News talking about what happened Wednesday on his amendment.

So Cal Poll for offshore drilling
For Southern Californians or anyone interested in stating your opinion for offshore drilling.

http://www.pasadenastarnews.com

(Poll - scroll down to middle, middle column).
Was 65% plus "for" first 250 votes, down now to 40% "for" in an hour. Seems like there was a definite push the other way. So...Let's get it back over 50% and beyond

Why that Pasadena poll is dropping
Because it asks: "Do you support PRESIDENT BUSH'S call for offshore drilling." Eliminate the reference to Bush or put in "Democrat" and the poll swings to 80% support.

I am going to keep repeating this
There is NOTHING short of a deep global recession or depression that will make oil prices go down in the near term and it is very damaging to the cause to be claiming that just to win in November. Credibility is important if we are going to win all of the battles required to prevent the Cap and Trade global warming bureaucracy. Being caught in a blatant lie while electioneering will torpedo anything we try to do after the election when either Obama or McCain is going to try to cram down the Cap and Trade bill. Neither side wants to drill. This is just cynical posturing. The GOP had six years to get it done and sixteen years to try but instead did nothing but grow the government to insane proportions.

What we are setting ourselves up for
By continuing this lie about drilling to bring down prices:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/19/opinion/19thu1.html?_r=1& oref=slogin

We need to drill for more important reasons than for certain politicians to win in November. The biggest reason is that we face economic catastrophe as oil exporting countries reduce their exports to us among other things. It is would take AT LEAST five years to even start drilling because we do not have the equipment! In the meantime, prices will continue to climb.

Why tilt at windmills when we know we are going to get our heads cut off by the vanes? Let's get it right for once. The problem is getting the government out of the way, not electing one party or the other to oversee the "solution" when both parties are determined to deliver a Cap and Trade bill as soon as possible.

Keep up the Pressure
The Congressional Democrats are starting to crack. They realize full well that the people are really mad and are blaming the no-drill Democrats for our oil/gas pricing problem. I think that everyone should make it clear to their senators and representative that we expect the domestic oil exploration, drilling, and refining limitation be lifted before their 4th of July break. Tell them that we want to celebrate an energy "Independence Day" or that we will not vote for them should they run for re-election.

Keep up the pressure!

$4.50 for a gallon of gas
*Skyrocketing Food Prices

*AMERICA IS GOING BROKE FROM CHANGE

*O B A M A for "C H A N G E"

SNL
I think John McCain is looking at the Dems the way Dukakis did in that famous 88 SNL debate skit.

"I can't believe I am losing to this guy"

Well believe it. I think give Obama six weeks and a look at the poll numbers and he will be pro-drilling. And then we will be drilling tommorrow. Just like that!
