Despite Congress’ mere lip service to defunding ACORN, the organization remains under intense scrutiny, and more and more entities are distancing themselves from this tarnished group. The latest:  In the latest round of allocations from the National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling program, ACORN Housing Corp. received no federal funding.

The Wall Street Journal reports that last year, ACORN “was allocated federal funds that could total as much as about $25 million under the program.…”  This year, however, it appears that NeighborWorks America which allocates the money is waiting to see what happens, if anything, given the current scrutiny ACORN faces.

If only Congress could take such meaningful action.  While both the Senate and House did take votes to strip ACORN of its funding, having two votes on two entirely different bills in two different chambers against ACORN looks good, but accomplishes nothing when all is said and done.  It’s good PR, but little more than that.

This is all the more reason why President Obama must immediately use his authority to suspend all federal agencies from doing business with ACORN. The evidence is ample, but it seems the motivation is lacking on the President’s part to do so. This group should not be allowed its continued use of our hard-earned tax dollars to perpetuate their scandalous work. It’s just common sense.

Thank you to Rep. Bachmann for providing
the leadership in Congress to keep the pressure on working to disconnect the ACORN federal funds feeding tube.

It is not made any easier by our two liberal Senators knowing that ACORN showered praise on Al Franken, endorsing him for the U.S. Senate. Franken returned the favor: "I'm thrilled and honored to receive this endorsement," he gushed in a press release. He added that he was "more motivated than ever to work with ACORN."

Don't hold your breath Michelle
Barry Soetoro a.k.a. Barry Dunham a.k.a Barack Hussein Obama will never demand an invesstigation or halt it's federal $$$$...he's one of them..one of the leaders/trainers. He's one of the trees and those Acorns aren't falling far from it.
Thank you for having more courage than many of your Beta dog colleagues..mainly of the male gender. I'm sick of listening to them bloviate and sick of them doing nothing and then expecting my vote..

common sense?
It's too "common" (uneducated), and probably racist. Where's the nuance?

Maybe David Brooks knows.

Goodness, we've been hearing about the BILLIONS ACORN receives from the government. Thank you, Rep. Bachmann, for uncovering another right-wing lie.

Put your money where you mouth is
Bachmann is ALL OVER the folks at ACORN for 'fraud' that is totally without conviction, and yet doesn't say a peep about the documented fraud to the tune of BILLIONS of taxpayers' dollars in the defense industry. Why is that, Michelle? Is it because you are an utter, shameful HACK? Yeah, it is.

You can ALWAYS tell when
a person is telling the truth because the liberals will lie, cheat and steal to demonize them.

Truth is to liberals as light is to cockroaches.

Pretty soon.....
Munckey boy will be here to whine about how the defunding also took away from Haliburton and other RW entities.

But, Bob-O is wrong-O. Private companies vs Not-for Profits are not in the same boat, are they Bob-O?

Liberal Logic
I get it now.

If I say billions when it's millions, I'm lying.

If I say I dodged snipers or sat on daddys lap to watch Carl Lewis in the olympics, I merely misspoke.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Oh the agony Vladie & Co,
must be going through, poor souls, another iconic group bites the dust! Surely this is Bush's fault, don't you think? After all, ACORN just did a little lying, cheating, and embezzling, it's not as if it was nation-wide, oh wait, it is!

Funny - I get the following disclaimer when entering your blog:

"Neither the House office whose site contains the above link, nor the U.S. House of Representatives is responsible for the content of the non-House site you are about to access. "

Seems like no one wants to take responsibility for you Michele!

Obama will do nothing....
It would be an out-right admition on Obamas behalf to cut all Federal funding to ACORN. After all, Obama did claim to have ties with ACORN. Then when the Stuff hit the fan, there was no connection with ACORN. The very ones to be conducting an investigation are the ones who have ties to ACORN.....so why would they want to investigate? Obamas silence on the issue speaks volumes of his involvement!!!!!!!!!!

slacker
Bachmann has the lightest workload of any state senator. Although she serves on only three committees, two of them meet at exactly the same time. That means Bachmann only attends a maximum of four committee meetings a week. The rest of her colleagues' calendars, with the exception of two in leadership positions, are filled with anywhere from six to 11 committee meetings a week.
