I was pleased to see today that the Supreme Court upheld our nation’s greatest document, the Constitution, by restoring Second Amendment rights long denied to D.C residents by their extraordinarily restrictive firearm ban.

The Second Amendment guarantees the individual a right to bear arms, and for too long it has been attacked by Washington politicians. Our Founding Fathers wrote this Amendment to protect the rights of our citizens, and their voices were heard today by the Supreme Court as their freedom to own a firearm was protected.

I was also pleased  that yesterday the House Financial Services Committee adopted language I offered  to protect the Second Amendment rights of public housing tenants during a mark-up on H.R. 6216, the Public Housing Asset Management Improvement Act.  Recently, several public housing authorities were forcing law-abiding citizens to give up their Second Amendment rights in order to reside in taxpayer subsidized public housing.

Activist Supreme Court.
You want guns in public housing. That is as stupid as allowing guns on airplanes. If you can afford a gun, you should not have to live in public housing. If you want to live in public housing, you can not have a gun. It is called a choice not a right. Just like if you want to ride on an airplane, you can not carry a gun with you.

This has got to be one of her most uninformed entries yet.

And I never want to hear about her complaining about activist judges when this version of the supreme court is the most activist I have ever seen.

Bachmann is lying again

It's not Washington politicians, Michele. It's mayors of big cities all across the country who recognize the need for stricter gun laws in large urban areas than in Casper, Wyoming. You always love to pose for pictures with law enforcement personnel. But why don't you ask your friendly cops what they think of this decision, which will guarantee more guns on the streets aimed at them. They are furious about this. I hope you think about your support for this decision the next time a cop is gunned down on the streets by an illegal handgun. Maybe you can go get your picture taken with his widow.

Activist judges, Terry?
So in a liberal's mind, those judges who uphold the Constitution are "Activist Judges". That's pretty revealing.

Gun bans don't stop criminals.
Monkeywrench - Are you really trying to tell us a gun ban stops criminals from getting guns? Anyone who is willing to gun a cop down in the street will find a way to get that "illegal handgun".

"No free man shall ever be de-barred the use of arms.

The strongest reason for the people to retain their right to keep and bear arms is as a last resort to protect themselves against tyranny in government."
