Earlier this week, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke finally spoke up against the reckless spending habits of the Obama Administration and this Democrat-controlled Congress.

In testimony on Capitol Hill Wednesday, Bernanke told the House Budget Committee:

"Unless we demonstrate a strong commitment to fiscal sustainability in the longer run, we will have neither financial stability nor healthy economic growth."

I couldn't agree more -- we need to cut our $2 trillion budget deficit and the current borrowing-spending-taxing cycle is not going to get us there!

Thankfully, Mr. Bernanke also told the Committee that he will not simply print more money – which would lead to inflation – to legitimize greater budget deficits.

It's clear from his testimony that if we want to balance America's budget -- we can either raise taxes or cut government spending. Seeing as how President Obama and Congress are continuing forward with their big spending plans - universal health care and cap-and-trade come to mind - I'm afraid it's the taxpayer who will be stuck footing the bill yet again.

Stimulus
We have been sold such a bill of goods. First we were told that we must have the stimulus so unemployment will be no higher than 8.9% by the end of the year. Well folks it is only the beginning of June and we are at 9.4%. Guess Obama got that one wrong. Obama will fail to listen to this advice as well. I think that time has come for him to start owning the mistakes he is making. He is making this economy worse and big taxes are on the horizon. Watch out you 95% will get the hit as well.

Too late now
"Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke finally spoke up against the reckless spending habits of the Obama Administration and this Democrat-controlled Congress."

Finally.

There IS a way around Bernanke for the Congress however,

The Congress shall have the power: To coin money, regulate the value thereof, and of foreign coin, and fix the standard of weights and measures. -Article I, Section 8

There is no Amendment which gives the Federal Reserve the power to coin money or regulate its value. I think the Congress should defy the Federal Reserve and keep the seigniorage for themselves.

Seigniorage, also spelled seignorage or seigneurage, is the net revenue derived from the issuing of currency. Seigniorage derived from coins arises from the difference between the face value of a coin and the cost of producing, distributing and eventually retiring it from circulation.

Uh, gentlemen, I note with some trepidation that the barn door has lately been left rather wide open. More than open. In fact, I detect a couple of sprung hinges and someone has kicked out the slats. Where the horses used to be are numerous owls' nests and I believe a homeless man is keeping some clothes there. I am wondering if we should, perhaps, consider, uh, closing it?

ACORN
How can we stop this kind of fraud and also prevent them from using our TAX dollars to push their agenda on us? I was told the money, (millions), trail for ACORN so far has be tracked to a single address in the state of Louisiana.
We need to take this country back from these "special interest groups, and stop financing them. Please advise.
Thanks.

We will riot with our wallets
You don't have to raise taxes to increase tax revenues.Raising tax rates often slows down economic growth;cutting rates often increases the available taxable revenue. If you don't get it,move on and refrain from comment until you do.The myth of the under-taxed American relies on two deliberate omissions:failing to bundle federal, state, local ,property, sales, etc. is the first omission.American federal tax rates are often lower than comparative countries but the entire tax burden is often higher(depending on the state you live in).You don't see these local variations in most countries so analysts often just ignore.Second, stuff your "income disparity" liberals, the biggest disparity in this once free country is who pays the taxes. We the hard-working "employer-class" pay an extraordinarily disproportionate share. Our reward is to be demonized, insulted, persecuted, hated and threatened with more taxes by a President whose only previous sales job was his autobiographies. I'm done being Obama's deadbeats' daddy.Your allowance is cut off.My one-man rebellion(hopefully spreading) of "shorting" treasuries has modestly enriched me.And it's my non-violent way of resisting further government borrowing for Obama.Obama started this fight;we'll finish it to the bitter end.

Protests
Well, Americans can agree to not pay their taxes, in the same way Obama’s staff failed to pay theirs. But it would have to be a large majority of say 75% of the tax paying public. We would never get that percentage. I’m researching to see if the public has a right to serve Congress with an injunction to cease and desist all these Bills and spending habits.

In doing research regarding the injunction I discovered that 4 out of the 9 Justices on the Supreme said that they would look into the Obama birth certificate. They need a majority of at least 5. The Justices will be breaking soon for summer recess so if we want them to review it we need one of the holed outs to switch. Those that agree are: Justices Roberts, Alito, Scalia and Thomas.

We need to change John Paul Stevens, Anthony M. Kennedy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen G. Breyer and David Souter. I think the best one might be Stevens or Souter. Part of their job is to uphold the Constitution of the United States and part of that is the eligibility of a sitting President. The person that is suppose to verify all Presidential candidates is the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi and we all know how reliable she is. Didn’t she say she would do everything in her power to make sure a Democrat would be elected to the White House and that she would make sure more Democrats would be elected to Congress? But she also said that she would run a corruption free Congress the most ethical Congress. Yeah, right. Politicians lie for a living and we’re suppose to take there word for it. I say no.

If we can get one of the Justices to agree we can finally get some answers. Start a writing campaign to the Justices and demand an investigation into Obama’s eligibility and if it shows he is not, then Pelosi will also be removed for lying to Congress. A massive investigation will get under way.

Please bring SENSE to our government
I love what you do and write. I wish I had a representative that shared your views.
THE FEAR I HAVE is that by bankrupting Capitalism, there will be but one choice - Fascism (which inevitably leads to Socialism, which inevitably leads to Communism.)
The "people" will have their day! (If they do, we're dead!)
We must not allow our government to truncate wealth creation by absorbing the necessary free flow of private capital to fund expansion and economic growth. Taxing does this, out-of-control spending does this.
Continue the good fight -- the right fight!

Rep. Bachmann,
how can we convince Congress to de-fund itself? That seems as impossible as getting Congress to vote in term limits!

Cap and trade, I'm beginning to think is just a clever way to bankrupt the energy industry so that the government can take it over. Worked with the financial and auto industries, didn't it?

Sig Heil, Obama!
