Today, the budget battle really begins to heat up on Capitol Hill, and the Republicans are readying to present their alternative budget proposal later today.

But to give you a preview of how the GOP budget stacks up to the President's proposal that spends too much, taxes too much, and borrows too much, take a look at this graph. Without a doubt, there's a very clear and distinct difference.

Refreshing
It's refreshing to see Republican representatives finally attempting to appear to be fiscally responsible. I wish they had been more fiscally conservative before it was too late.

Excellent.
Debt as it pertains in ratio to GDP is the point I have been making for so long and I can't seem to get my point across. Hopefully this simple graff will change one mind or two on this site. Liberal have been using lame aguements spewing out statistics and I tell them in no way is Bush's deficits or debt historic. Compared to FDR's and Carter's his is nothing. The Republicans at least in the house may at last be seeing the writing on the wall. I wish they would have stayed out of the pork barrel in this years budget. It would have given them a whole lot more credibility. I would also like to make a point liberals hammer Bush on the tarp bill for. The Democrats changed the rules of the intent of that bill before the ink dried on Bush's signature. I wrote them all and told them not to trust the Dems. How many times are they going to try and kick that football with Lucy at the controls?
Frank writes: Wednesday, April, 01, 2009 11:41 AM
nice graph
where is the actual budget? Are people just going to release graphs all day?

Where are the vaunted numbers from the CBO?

hmmmmmmmm

Frank your double standard is showing
You great leader is allowed 24 days to deliver his Multi-Trillion Dollar Budget.

BUT

You jump on the GOP for taking half that time.

Got it thanks for clarifying. Now it's time for you to update your Media Matters talking points. Go fetch boy!

Really???
You guys choose today to release a budget. April 1st.

Really?

No, really?

Is there really no one in the GOP leadership who might think about that sort of imagery and think, "Hey, guys, people already thought our roll out graphs for Economic Recovery was a joke. Maybe we shouldn't follow that up with a budget proposal on April freakin' first."

Rev Red Dog writes: Wednesday, April, 01, 2009 12:02 PM

the dems chose today to start the debate on their multi-trillion dollar budget.

April Fools Budget?
What exactly does that chart represent? It's hilarious. One arrow up, the other down with no specifics at all.

Bachmann and the GOP never continues to amaze with their utter lack of seriousness.

just asking for the budget
that was supposed to be released today.

of course I can understand how sensitive the conservatives must be considering how last week's budget "paper" was a numberless disaster.

Of course if you don't HAVE it or need more TIME just ask.

I just thought the GOP was the party that did was it says and says what it means.

Clearly from Red Dog thin canine skin-they are running scared.

Wrong again
"You great leader is allowed 24 days to deliver his Multi-Trillion Dollar Budget."

But he wasn't going around telling people he already had one during those 24 days.

The Republicans released an 18-page "outline," with nothing except tax cuts and spending freezes and no actual numbers. And the Wall Street Journal has seen fit to publish an editorial defending it.

You guys should be embarrassed.

Notice the values on the X-axis. The chart covers ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY YEARS. They're making predictions for 2080, long after we've welcomed our new masters from Betelgeuse and been eaten.

Your retention span is amazing. I just told you guys yesterday these are CBO numbers. This is why the first Budget proposal was an outline and thus had no substance. Pelosi and co. just couldn't wait to belittle the "no substance" republican offering, and now she has fallen for their trap. There will many more graphs Frank, where's the teleprompters graphs? Yes we know the budget is based on the CBO numbers; now we would like to see the alternative budget. Do you have it? did they broadcast it to your tin foil hat's reciever?

I'm pretty sure time is universal here on Earth. If Obama had 24 days to make his budget, than the GOP had those same 24 days. Adding "half that time" (12 days) on top of 24 days does not make it less that 24 days.

No wonder the GOP budget has no numbers.

Finally!
Ok, Repubs, where were you for the last 8 years??? The refutes the "Party of No" argument. Keep being fiscally conservative, and conservative in all your dealings. I'd like to hear more Republicans voice their beliefs on some of the Fox programs and elsewhere.

One thing that could really help you is to keep confirming your belief in the American people!!!! Their ingenuity, their ability to solve their own problems instead of depending on the government, their entrepreneurship. Keep talking points positive about what Americans can do to help themselves and how Republicans can help people help themselves. Push educational programs, and give some help to people who may not be poor, but who are lower middle class, even middle class.

But above all, BE POSITIVE ABOUT AMERICANS. The President and the Democrats are not positive about Americans. They want Americans to depend on the Government.

So BE POSITIVE ABOUT THE ABILITIES OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

Cheers,
Nancy

Americans, YOU are the backbone of our society, and you CAN find a new job, YOU CAN make more money, YOU CAN build a new business. It may not be easy, but it's doable. Go for it!

Let's look more closely
Apparently the new Republican "budget" proposes new tax rates, and taxpayers will have the choice of going with the new ones or the old ones. And their budget projections are based on the assumption that everybody will choose to pay HIGHER rates.

Given the recession and the financial crisis, the budget outlook has become truly bleak, with the deficit for the current budget year expected in the $1.7 trillion range and the deficit for 2010 seen at between $1.2 trillion to $1.4 trillion, depending on whether additional financial bailout funds are approved.

Obama's budget, according to the Congressional Budget Office, would produce unsustainable deficits that never go below 4 percent of the size of the economy. The alternatives offered by House and Senate Democrats would do somewhat better.

Frank through the looking glass. The budget is represented by the graph you morons. The numbers nobody would understand. That is why the CBO exists. You guys screamed for substance,we give you substance. There was a poll yesterday asking if we should let you stay and spew pap or not, to kick your useless no input dregs off the island. I officially change my vote to hell yes. It's not suppressing your ideas, there are plenty of liberal sites where you can all ask what happened. I would love be on a wall with liberals when they are all by themselves. It would be just like Jesse Jackson in an all black church admitting there really is black on black crime. I really think Vlad if you can understand anything I put up here everyone save maybe Frank and Raelei lonny etc... I tried a little experiment with White salamander and a couple other libs who I have had the honesty to agree with one time out of a thousand. I threw them an olive branch and asks them to work with me on that one thing and throw the rest out for now. One of them had the decency to answer my post. Frank and Vlad have called themselves moderate conservatives. Right. Moderate is French for spineless spittle with no real convictions and certainly no beliefs in our constitution. Vlad likes pop qizzes. Do you even know what debt to GDP ratio even means. You want to see the fine print and the legalese and pretent you know what it means. I suspect your interpretation would be different than the bean counters at CBO, I mean, you are liberals and superior in every way to the great unwashed out here. Four times I get blasted for one letter typos and spaces after my punctuation marks. That's as sure a sign I am making headway on real substance. As Sarah Palins trash picking friends from carville and Podesta look for used condoms in her daughters garbage, she continues to look unshaken. Gee, almost forgot, Sen. Ted Stevens, REPUBLICAN from Alaska whose life was ruined by the Boss Tweed groups, the case dropped for lack of evidence today. Here's a new list. I'll start it for you.

Pieces of fiction from John's posts:

1. Frank and Vlad have called themselves moderate conservatives. (Never in my life.)

2. Sen. Ted Stevens, REPUBLICAN from Alaska whose life was ruined by the Boss Tweed groups, the case dropped for lack of evidence today. (It hasn't been dropped, and it's not for "lack of evidence." The Justice Department - the OBAMA Justice Department - asked to have the convictions overturned.)

Why would they ask the verdict be overturned Vlad? Could it be that two days before an election Eric holder and co are the ones responsible for prosecuting him unjustly. Holder is SHOCKED vlad, SHOCKED that these facts are just coming out now. Meanwhile 2000 votes pop up in Minnasota and we have a bitter hate filled washed up air america failure in the Senate. Fight the good fight, Michelle!
I sincerely hope you decide to take up arms in your revolution. There is truly nothing more admirable than calling for the people of your district to rise up and attack the government that represents them.

I can't think of anything more empowering to give you the clout to propose armed revolt than winning your congressional election by 3% against some guy no one's ever heard of in a state that went 10% for the current President. Especially since you won your first congressional race in 2006 by 8%. You have certainly earned the political capital to propose such drastic measures against the government that wants to reach into our pockets and give money to welfare mothers in inner cities to buy crack cocaine and condoms for their many fatherless babies.

It is my hope, Congresswoman, that when your revolution starts you are front and center on your majestic steed, bravely leading Minnesotans into battle against other Minnesotans because of the radically unfair 3% hike on income over $250,000 that will certainly reduce this country to some socialist, fascist, communist dictatorship where blacks steal our guns for drugs, Jews use Hollywood to brainwash people about evolution, and gays try to teach our children about abortion in FEMA concentration camps.

Keep fighting the good fight!
