They did nothing substantial to open up offshore drilling, nuclear power, wind etc. President Bush even made it more difficult to drill off shore of Florida when Jeb was governor.
Bachmann’s late entry into the energy debate is a political gimmick; her voting record on energy proves it.

I'm disappointed Michele has abandoned her mission and instead been wasting her time reading Publisher's Weekly. Why, she almost sounds like a hypocrite!

Nasty Pelosi will fight every single thing the GOP puts forth and accomplish nothing again. the oil companys leases that everyone says thay should be drilling on that thay already have are eather not profitable or held up in court by enviromentalist.
And as for the there profits how much of the $4 gas does the goverment get? without doing anything.

We all know that polls make it pretty clear how the public feels about voting for Republicans to solve the energy problem.
Congress as an institution polls very low (the out-of-power GOP is fond of talking about that) but the Republicans in Congress poll even lower than the Democrats (the GOP fans *never* talk about that.)
If the GOP was serious about taking measures to control gas and energy prices, they would have done so when they were in power. The price of gas began its historic climb while the GOP still ran Congress and they did nothing to stop it.
It continued to climb under the Dem Congress--but if you blame them when the gas prices go up, why aren't you giving them credit when the gas prices go down, as they've been doing for the last few weeks (without the new drilling the GOP says is the only solution.)
The GOP should stop pretending that they run the oil industry and can set prices (it's actually the other way around, the oil industry runs *them* and sets *their* prices.) Staying in Washington an extra couple of weeks for photo ops of them "pretending to work" on a problem they couldn't solve when they actually were in power--is not interesting or persuasive, it's just kind of sad. And the polls on the GOP's reputation will tell you exactly how sad that is.

Why do so many people here ignore Rep. Bachmann's voting record; she has been terrible on the energy issue and has ignored it completely until gas prices jumped.
Check Rep Bachmann's voting record; my gosh she is even opposed to energy savings bills she voted on.
One of you said if it is a GOP bill Pelosi is against it.
Bachmann is just as guilty of this mindset as Pelosi.
I do agree that there are many in both political parties guilty of this.
