As we near the 4th of July, I've been busy back in the district with parades and a variety of other meetings and events. As I'm sure you can imagine, the three biggest issues everyone is talking to me about are gas prices, gas prices, and gas prices.

I think Newt Gingrich is an innovator and is among the best in breaking down and conveying sometimes boring and complex topics in a way that millions can understand. His latest video  is "3 Ways to Lower Gas Prices."

Also, be sure to sign the "Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less" petition. I signed on to it this morning.

Have a great Independence Day!

I would sign it if...
They took out the "pay less" part. It is a cynical political gimmick. Won't happen no matter what we do. But drilling here and now will help dampen future prices while we buy time to migrate on a large scale to alternatives. This petition is yet another reason why Republicans simply cannot be trusted, even worse the Dems (who I would never vote for either).

Michele Bachmann is the Maria Bartiromo
...of Townhall.com. A hot, intelligent female conservative! The dream of all the fiscal conservative guys that hang around the 'hall (my new nickname for Townhall.com)!

What it really means...
Dems energy policy is science fiction...

When Dems say the debate about global warming is over it really means Dems won't allow anybody talk about it any more...

When Dems say we can't drill our way out of this crisis of high crude oil and gas prices it really means Dems won't allow anybody drill for more oil...

They quit using Vasoline and want all of us to feel the pain...

The political parties certainly have polarized the debate by making the ideas "red" or "blue".

The best thing that we can do is support the good ideas and oppose the bad independent of the party line.

"Drilling Here and Now" is a great idea and it will help the situation. When we overcome the Democratic opposition (it may take a few years) everyone will be pleased and many will be surprised that the free market worked very well in distributing this critical resource at the lowest possible price.

If you believe in the idea of "Drill Now, Drill Here" then I encourage you to sign the petition.

And let the results be what they may. The risk is minimal.

Its not a Republican idea or a Democratic idea, its just a good idea period.

I have already signed it because it sends a clear message to the Democrats in our Congress who are not interested (yet) in doing the right thing in this regard. IMHO they will need to be forced to change their opposition.

The GOP enthusiasm for domestic drilling is about as heartfelt as it was in delaying that Dodd bailout bill for the mortgage industry even though only 9 senators opposed the bill. It is just another cynical political gimmick aimed at shoring up their tattered image for November.

I can't support this latest big lie. Prices are NOT going down no matter what anyone does. I strongly support drilling here and drilling now and it will happen without this petition. We are entering the beginning of the Main Street part of the Wall Street problems we have been hearing so much about for the past year. In my opinion, by election we will be facing economic problems we have never faced before and they will represent a tsunami of what will seem like endless insurmountable problems. The polls will show that 99% of Americans will be clamoring for drilling.

How about joining me in scorching politicians every time we catch them lying?

If signing that petition, makes you feel better, fine. That is all it can accomplish. That and keeping the fearful RINOs preoccupied with something other than the real issues and how their candidate is no different than that other Democrat running, Obama.

Newt has lost all credibility
All he does is tease us and then run away only to come back later and run away again. He is another global warming fear monger who is very capable of getting his facts wrong and he is wrong with this. Drilling will not lower prices and neither will conserving. It is estimated that their will be 10 million fewer cars on the road in America last year and miles driven are already plummeting. Price of oil today? $144 bbl. Why? World consumption is rising faster and they get to buy their oil with dollars, dollars keep getting cheaper so we are subsidizing everyone else's consumption. We are about to experience an ugly period of stagflation because of it. Impossible to stimulate economic growth but having to fight inflation with higher interest rates. The killer would be for oil producers, at the request of non-American oil consumers, to sell oil denominated in non-dollar currencies.

We are not in a position of power anymore. The keystone to American global power was in defending the dollar as the world's reserve currency as per the Bretton Woods agreement. The Bush team decided to re-introduce the Nixon/Ford/Carter economic plan and here we are again. The world is not going to forgive us this time so strap yourselves in. We are going for a very bumpy ride. It has already started.

That Newt Gingrich?
The one who asked his wife for a divorce while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery? Who reasoned "She isn't young enough or pretty enough to be the President's wife." That Newt Gingrich? The draft dodger Newt Gingrich? That Newt Gingrich? The Newt Gingrich with a record of sleaze and influence peddling as long as your arm? That Newt Gingrich? The same Newt Gingrich who had an affair while the Clinton-Monica thing was under investigation? That Newt Gingrich? Boy, Michele, ya sure know how to pick em!

Bachmann is intelligent?

I wouldn't call someone who can't spell "independence" intelligent (quick Julie Quist, go change the headline!). What an ignorant fool. And this is what you people call your energy expert?

PLEASE PROMOTE THIS VIDEO OF NEWT
This is an incredible video. Bush has got to release that oil.

Senator Mary L. Landrieu (D-La.) is reconsidering her vote against oil exploration in Colorado. And that's because it makes sense if you read up on how they plan to get the oil.

Pasedena Phil -
I am not interested in partisan political BS nor assessing the truthfulness of an individual or a party.

I am interested in judging the ACTIONS of my elected officials, instructing them as to my wishes, and based on their performance, voting accordingly.

Because so many people have ignored what their elected officials are doing (or not doing), these same politicians have artfully shifted the debate from the reality of their performance to the false reality of what they say that their performance is and why their opponents cannot be trusted.

Partisan name calling, impugning someone else's intentions, or lack of consistency is not helping to solve the energy crisis. It is all part of sustaining a false (and hopeless) reality.

Given your invitation to scorch the alleged liars, I suspect that you either like false realities or are being paid to sustain false realities.

The DNC is not paying me so I am only interested in reality and the reality is that we are paying too much for gasoline and want it to stop...now.

How much clearer can Newt get?
I assume everybody is sick of the bull - that's why I like the video. It's more constructive than this previous blog. Newt's giving us a very clear action list.
